Making a New Mail Account
Outlook Express

Here is a step by step guide showing you how to make a new mail account in Outlook Express in Windows.

1. Open Outlook Express.

2. From the Outlook Express Window, click onto the Tools menu (at the top: File, Edit. View etc) and select Accounts.

3. From the Internet Account page, click onto the Add button on the top right and then select Mail.

Step 1

4. Type in the Name that you want attached to your emails.

Step 2

5. Click the Next button.

6. Type in your email address. For new users this is your User Name with @yourdomain.com.au after it.

Step 3

7. Click the Next button.

8. Check that: My incoming mail server is set to POP3.

9. Type in mail.yourdomainname.com.au for the Incoming mail server.

10. Type in mail.yourISP.com for the Outgoing mail server.
Here is a list of the mail servers of some of the bigger ISPs in Australia:
- BigPond: mail.bigpond.com
- Optus: mail.optusnet.com.au
- iPrimus: smtp.iprimus.com.au
- TPG: mail.tpg.com.au

Step 4

11. Click the Next button.

12. Type in your User Name in the Account name box. (The User Name is your FULL email address.)

13. Type in your password in the Password box.

If the password box is greyed out then put a tick in the Remember Password box so that you can type in your password.

Please check that the User Name you type in is not in the wrong capitalisation because User Names and passwords are case sensitive. The password you type in shows up as a bunch of stars to keep it private.

Step 5

14. Click the Next button.

Step 6

15. Click the Finish button.

-----------------------------------------

You should now see an account called mail.yourdomainname.com.au in the Account column.

ALL DONE

To make any changes to your mail account, Select the acount (mail.yourdomainname.com.au) and then click Properties on the right hand side.

Step 7 - Changes

When you restart Outlook Express, you should be all set to use it for sending and receiving email.
